MATERIALS One 25gr ball of gold or beige coloured DK yarn, or oddments of any colour. 0.5m of 3mm ribbon. Small amount of toy filling. Black stranded embroidery cotton. Darning needle 3.25mm needles ( UK 10, USA 3 ). ABBREVIATIONS k = knit st(s) = stitch(es) rem = remaining LEGS & BODY Cast on 4 sts, k 10 rows, break off wool and leave stitches on the needle. Cast on another 4 sts k 10 rows Working across all 8sts, k 50 rows On first 4sts only k 10 rows Cast off Rejoin wool and k 10 rows on rem 4sts Cast off ARMS - make 2 alike Cast on 6sts k 8 rows Cast off MAKING UP Fold body in half widthways, matching legs. Oversew edges together leaving open at one side near the top fold for stuffing. Stuff legs firmly, using tweezers, then stuff the body. Tie a piece of wool tightly around the body approx. 4cm ( 1.5" ) from the top fold to form the head. Make a small ball of toy filling and push in place for the snout. Close the opening. Backstitch across each top corner to form the ears. Gather a circle around the snout and pull up to define it. Fold each arm in half lengthways. Oversew leaving one short edge open. Stuff firmly, then ladder stitch open ends to the sides of the body just below the neck. Using 2 strands of stranded cotton embroider the eyes, nose, mouth and claws. Tie ribbon around the neck and make a bow at the front.
